Design for Recycling Recycled Textiles - Talk by Cathryn Hall

16/06/21, 11am–12pm

Design for Textile Recycling is starting to become a misnomer. It is considered as a strategy to ‘start from the end’ and design new garments for successful textiles recycling. However, often the industry use this approach only with virgin inputs, thus resulting in the continuation of the one-way linear flow of materials in the take, make, waste system. They might be designed a little better, but if we never design our garments with recycled textile materials, we will never truly close the loop. Design for Textile Recycling, also needs to include Designing from Recycled Textiles. Cathryn joins us to discuss further.
