Design for Recycling Recycled Textiles - Talk by Cathryn Hall

Design for Recycling is starting to become a misnomer. Most consider it to be a strategy to ‘start from the end’ and design new products for successful recycling. However, often this approach only uses virgin inputs, thus resulting in the continuation of the one-way linear flow of materials in the take, make, waste system. They might be designed a little better, but if we never design our garments with recycled materials, we will never truly close the loop. Design for recycling, also needs to include designing fromrecycled materials.
